Reading
A mind that settles nowhere — not on having, on judging, on what has passed.
The moment it grasps, the thing is already gone.
Only a mind that does not abide can meet everything as it comes.
Origin
From the Diamond Sutra (Vajracchedikā): "give rise to a mind that dwells nowhere" (応無所住而生其心). Traditionally the verse that awakened the Sixth Patriarch, Huineng.
Seal
The original seal is hand-carved in Tokyo by the artist Satake Hōsen. Its impression is reproduced as a print on the garment.
