It settles on nothing — not on liking, on judging, on gain or loss.
When the calculating drops away, things appear as they are.
To the open hand that grasps at nothing, things come of themselves.
Origin
A core term of Chan/Zen (Ch. wuxin), not tied to a single koan. Its named locus is the early Chan Treatise on No-Mind (Wuxin lun), preserved among the Dunhuang manuscripts; the term recurs across the later literature.
Seal
Cut by hand in Tokyo by the artist. The angle of the blade and the depth of the stroke decide where the ink bleeds and where it holds. No imprint repeats.
